Coming this Summer!
It began as the desire of frontier parents to provide their children with a strong education and then became a committment to also educate others. It was a desire and committment that survived the Civil War and came to fruition during Reconstruction as two small Alabama schools—one male and one female—forged ties in 1883 to become a united institution dedicated to training teachers. Now Jacksonville State University stands like a shining gem among Southern universities, still teaching teachers to teach, but also preparing a diverse population of students for tomorrow, no matter their discipline.
Tradition of Excellence: Jacksonville State University celebrates the pride, the beauty, the grace and the history of the achievement that make JSU an educational pillar in the South. Rich with vibrant photos, vivid stories, first-person quotes and firsthand memories, this keepsake volume is a fitting, full-color tribute to an institution whose prestige continues to build, not just in the Southeast but throughout the world.
